Ecosons Etude I. - Lu, Nl, 2020
is a set of two electroacoustic soundscape works created as part of an ecoacoustic music research. For this artistic research the ´acoustic niche hypothesis` is an important tool to investigate the field recordings and to evaluate an artistic-scientific soundscape assessment of nature areas.
For this work two different landscapes in Middle-Europe have been chosen, the Nationalpark ´De Biesbosch` in Netherlands and the Mëllerdall region in Luxembourg. For this artistic research the composer did kayak trips and sound walks around these areas and documented the acoustic environment with field recordings and deep listening techniques. The audio recordings were modified by computermusic techniques, like for instance spectral extraction, overlapping, and filtering strategies.
The idea of these compositions is to underline the psychoacoustic effects in acoustic environments, potential obstacles of communication and the interaction between human and environment.

´Mëllerdall` is a stereo fixed-media piece and tells the story about the interaction of bird calls and highway noise in the area of eastern Luxembourg (Reisdorf, Berdorf). The recordings were made with a Sennheiser MKH-416 microphone and a Zoom F4 Field Recorder in September 2020.

´De Biesbosch` is a stereo fixed-media piece and shows a very special biodiversity and human-environment interaction, while a trip in the National Park ´De Biesbosch` in southern Netherlands. The recordings were made with a Zoom H4n in August 2020.
